Karma
A Foreword by James d'Argantel
Before you engage yourself with what is being proposed on the page sequence to Karma below, I encourage you to approach the subjects with an open mind; whatever your current point of view about life. You may not have the same opinion, but that is not the point here.
If you can accept that then you will already have made great strides toward changing your life. After all you tend to listen to music with an open mind, then you make a decision as to whether it is to your liking or not. Simply apply the same principle in this instance. And you will benefit.
In my personal opinion one shouldn't overburden oneself greatly with beliefs and memories that do not serve a constructive purpose or have a beneficial aim. However, one should have a clear understanding of the rules and principles which govern personal and collective reality construction. These rules and principles underly our consciousness (your waking state) and what we general call the sub-conscious (the greater part of our consciousness which is obscured as if by a thin veil of forgetfulness unless we access it by means of suggestive concentration such as meditation, trance states, or hypnosis). These rules and principles of life create our universal life patterns and rhythms, according to which our physical and mental world comes into being in our sensory experience and so exists. Your entire life, your behaviour, habits known and un-observed, rely on those patterns of construction or de-construction.
You can observe yourself. Make notes about your own ritual when you get up in the morning - soon you will see the habit forming patterns that lay out your life and which influence the way you act and even think - the manner in which you come across to others, even your pets.
For example: It is ok to be aware of what brings pain and sadness into life, but that does not mean one has to absolutely practice either; or think in the fashion of 'no pain no gain'. Thinking that way will certainly attract painful elements to you achieving your goals.
Hypnotherapy, NLP, Gestalt and other therapies deal with these patterns and aim to replace outmoded ways with more beneficial paths.
Life is not, nor has it been or will likely be at anytime, a permanent struggle between Good and Evil.
Good and Evil are personal moral and emotive points of view.
They are perceptions of actions, not facts of reality. They are not outside agents to which your life is subjected, but your very own opinions about what you think is beneficial or deconstructive in relation to your life, as you form it by your beliefs, opinions, thoughts and actions.
The Truth is not out there
You are not powerless! If you think 'I have no power' then that is only a thought you have, which you couldn't have unless you were empowered to think that way. And what is the gain of those who tell you that you are powerless?
Maybe you should bring a bit more of "Cui bono?" (whose interests does it serve?) into your life...
Being able to form your own independent thoughts, your answers and questions, makes you the home of all truth, because all experiences you make are personal to your individuality. They cannot be made by anyone else. Other beings make similar experiences - all in their own way of understanding and perception. The truth is you ! It is born out of you, by your own ideas, thoughts, words and deeds.
Life bears out that it is entirely left to you what you believe. But if you are given a choice of being in charge of your thoughts or not, then I would certainly know which side I would lean to.
You are your own point of power at every moment of your life. While you can ask questions you are in power. You may be physically restricted, but your ability to ask questions and find answers is unlimited - and that makes you powerful, puts you in charge of your destiny and your decisions. There is absolutely no escaping your own decision-making and with that your responsibility.
There is no such thing as truth 'out there' unlike many would have you believe. Truth cannot lie in some far corner of the universe, a parallel dimension, or even with a god. All thoughts you engage in to reach that far corner of the universe, the parallel dimension or even a god are your own journey to and the creation of these goals. You have the thought, and then you seek to verify your concept. You may think this also applies to what is being said here - actually there is a difference, we are dealing with the rules and principles of how our journeys are laid out - not with the goals to be reached.
Positive and Negative
There is no positive karma and there is no negative karma. There are simply experiences. Viewing experiences as positive or negative only changes our perspective buy not the actions themselves. By viewing actions as positive or negative we may actually incur additional karma to work out.
From the moment you can accept the facts of life, that things simply are as a result of many actions coming together (coinciding), you free yourself from constantly having to pursue what we loosely classify as 'good' and at all costs avoid what we coin as 'evil'.
Life is beautiful and un-limited in its creativity, not despite of everything, but because it is everything you and I possibly set our minds to. If you think life, nature, or the universe are forces to be fought because they are hostile, then your entire perception of life is pervaded by such thinking. Now relate that kind of thinking to your neighbourhood, the state or other countries. Why would you want to fight a war for example? Why would you have a low opinion of some elements of society?
Retribution and Restitution
The word karma simply means 'the result of an action' regardless whether that action is in a past life, created into the present life, or the future - as most people understand time. Individuals go through certain processes and accompanying experiences throughout their lives which they have chosen, and those would be based on the results of their own creations: 'karma'.
It is very important to understand that karma is not about retribution, vengeance, punishment or reward. Karma simply deals with what is. Some people view karmic action in a mystical sense, and do believe that a higher individual is setting out their path (predestination) thus creating their karma. That takes away the entire notion of freedom of choice and would put individuals into an insufferable place of bondage.
From experience we know, we can and will make choices according to our understanding, intention and will.
Above all consider that all actions have some kind of benefit - all events are constructive.
If you do not subscribe to this then think about how it may actually be true. Look for moments in your own life when you thought a situation was disastrous but either taught you a lesson in some way or was in the longterm of benefit.
